effective在法律英語中的常見含義是有效的，生效的，如Notices given by personal delivery shall be deemed effective on the date of personal delivery，provided that receipt shall be acknowledged in writing by the receiving party.通知在專人送達之日視為生效，但收件方應書面確認已收到通知。
Encumbrance
encumbrance 在法律英語中的意思是財產或權利負擔，包括擔保，租賃，扣押等。如“Encumbrances”include any option，right to acquire，right of preemption，mortgage，charge，pledge，lien，hypothecation, title creation，right of set-off，counterclaim，trust arrangement or other security or any equity or restriction (including any relevant restriction imposed under the relevant law)．“權利負擔”包括期權、收購權、優先權、抵押、押記、質押、留置、押匯、所有權的產生、抵付權、反訴、信托安排或其他擔保、或股權、限制(包括有關法律規定的任何有關限制)。
Enforce
enforce在法律英語中的意思是執行，通常指依靠法律的強制力強制執行等。如The failure of either party to require performance of any provision hereof shall not affect its right at a later time to enforce the same.。任何一方未要求另一方履行本協議任一條款，并在不影響其以后強制執行該條款的權利。
Engagement
engagement的通常含義是從事，在法律英語中的特殊含義是聘用，相當于retain，如 Either party has the right to terminate the engagement by providing written notification to the other party. The engagement shall be deemed terminated once either party has received notice of termination.任何一方都有權在向對方發出書面通知后終止本聘用協議，聘用在另一方收到終止通知后即視為終止。
Enter into
enter into僅僅用在法律英語中，且通常在合同中出現，表示合同的訂力。如The contract is made and entered into by and between Party A and Party B in Shanghai.合同由甲乙雙方于上海訂立。
Entrust
entrust的含義是委托、信托。如entrust loan委托貸款，entrust lease 委托租賃，entrust the property to a fund把財產委托給基金進行管理等。
Equity
equity的意思是股權，既不同于股票，也不同于出資，而是股票或出資所代表的權益，如equity interest權益，equity transfer agreement股權轉讓協議，private equity非上市公司的股權等。
Estoppel
不可反言。是“Stop”的意思，法律上不容許否認經已作出的行為，或者不容許引申某項違反公平原則的爭辯。

exclusive是法律英語中出現頻率較高的一個單詞，意思是專有的、獨享的，如exclusive agent獨家代理商，exclusive jurisdiction專屬管轄權，exclusive contract專買或專賣合同，exclusive license排他性許可，exclusive right等。
Execute
execute是法律英語中常用也是比較容易出錯的單詞，通常理解為合同的簽訂等。如the contract shall take effect upon its execution 合同自簽訂之日起生效。很多人容易把它理解為執行，這是錯誤的。但execution的確有執行、履行的意思，如果它與表示一段的時間狀語連用，那肯定是執行、履行的意思，如in the course of the execution of the contract在合同履行過程中。
